Foreknowledge

You attune to some token given to you by your patron to tap into their knowledge. You ask a single question concerning a specific goal, event, or activity. The GM offers a truthful reply. The reply might be a short phrase, a cryptic rhyme, or an omen. They may not have an answer if your patron does not have enough knowledge to answer your question.

If you cast this spell more than once per long rest, there is a 75% chance that your incessant questioning will annoy your patron, causing them to cut you off from their power. You are compelled to expend one first-level spell slot. If you have already used all of your first-level spells, you must expend a 2nd level slot, etc. Spell slots lost this way are only regained after a long rest.

Higher Levels. You may avoid this consequence by casting the spells for levels higher. For example, if you cast it once already, you may spend a 2nd level spell slot to cast it again, avoiding the chance of failure. If you cast it again, you must use a 4th level slot, then 6th, then 8th.
