You lock eyes with a creature you can see within 30 feet of you, causing them to fall into a trance. The target creature is driven insane and finds the nearest object to harm itself with, dealing 2d6 + spellcasting modifier Necrotic Damage to that creature. If you do not have a spellcasting modifier, use your Charisma modifier instead. The life essence lost by the creature is absorbed by you, restoring your health by the amount of damage dealt + your Charisma modifier. This can be used once + your Charisma modifier times per long rest.
At character level 5 the range is doubled to 60 feet; At level 7 the damage becomes 4d6 instead of 2d6; At level 10 the range becomes 120 feet and the damage becomes 6d6 instead of 4d6; At level 12 the spell can target an additional 2 creatures.
