You create four glowing darts of magical power. Choose four different damage types: acid, bludgeoning, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, piercing, poison, psychic, radiant, slashing, or thunder. Each dart hits a creature of your choice that you can see within range, each dealing one of the four damage types that you chose. No dart can deal the same damage type as another, and each dart deals 2d4 damage to its target. The darts all strike simultaneously, and you can direct them to hit one creature or several.

When each dart hits a creature, you can accurately determine whether the creature was immune, resistant, or vulnerable to the dart's damage.

Creatures protected by the Shield spell or effects that protect from the Magic Missile spell are immune to all damage from this spell.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the spell creates one more dart for each slot level above 4th. Each new dart must use a different damage type than the others.
