“Choose freedom. Or I will choose it for you.”

As you complete this spell, a devastating wave of raw and unyielding emotion cleaves through the fabric of sentience itself, calling all who can hear to strip away their inhibitions and let the inner monster out. All entities on the same plane as the caster (excluding the caster themselves) who’re capable of understanding at least one language must succeed on a Wisdom Saving Throw. On a success, the entity is unaffected. On a failure, an entities darkest and most insidious secret or desire manifests to overcome them in every conceivable way, as memories are scrubbed clean and personalities are stripped bare. They assume one of the following series of changes as dictated by the secret or desire which overcomes them:

Creature of Craving:

  • Dark purple wings sprout from unnatural places on the body, such as from the neck, knees, waist, wrists or ankles. They use these to walk, as opposed to their previous assortment of limbs which atrophy and become non-functional in the process of transformation. The messy assortment of these wings means that they are useless for the purpose of flight.
  • Three long, barbed tongues unfurl from a perpetually cooing and calling mouth. These tongues collectively count as a simple weapon with the Finesse, Light and Reach properties, and on a hit they deals a number of d6’s in slashing damage equal to the creatures’ original Challenge Rating or Class Level pre-transformation. Any target hit by this weapon is additionally Grappled by the Creature.
  • Any time an entity which isn’t a Creature of Craving moves within 15 ft of a Creature of Craving, they must succeed on a Charisma Save contested by a Charisma Check from the Creature or be forced to move up to half their movement speed directly towards it. If this movement brings an entity within 5 ft of the Creature, it can attempt to grapple them as a reaction.
  • The Creature may have up to 3 entities grappled at a time. If it has Grappled the maximum number of entities it can, then its Tongue weapon loses the Finesse Property, and every time it makes a Tongue Attack it must succeed on a Strength Saving Throw or drop one of the three entities it is grappling. As a Bonus Action, it may throw one of the entities it is Grappling a number of feet equal to twice its Strength Score, making a ranged weapon attack which deals damage both to the target and thrown entity equal to twice the Creatures Strength/Finesse modifier (it chooses when it throws).
  • The only thing about which the Creature can think is the specific craving, desire, etc which fuelled their transformation into this new monstrosity. This need is so supernaturally strong that it can overwhelm all other bodily functions, and as a result the Creature does not need to eat, drink or sleep provided it has satiated this need within the last week.

Creature of Violence:

  • A rusty fluid is constantly excreted from patterns on the Creature's skin not dissimilar to a five-year-olds crayon drawing.
  • If the Creature's walking speed was previously less than 60 feet, it increases to 60 feet. It moreover gains a burrow speed of 30 feet as row upon row of serrated teeth emerge from its cavernous, slavering maw.
  • If this Creature has dealt damage to a target within the past 7 days, it can locate it as if concentrating on the Locate Creature spell.
  • If it was not already capable of doing so prior to transformation, the Creature gains the capacity to attack twice instead of once whenever it takes the Attack action on its turn.
  • When rolling initiative, roll twice instead of once for the Creature of Violence. It acts on both counts, essentially taking two turns per round.
  • This creature dies if it hasn’t killed an entity with a Challenge Rating or Class Level equal to at least a third of its own within the last 7 days, which fits their unimaginably aggressive and bloodthirsty nature. Otherwise, it doesn't require food or water, but still needs to sleep.
  • If it was not previously of size category Large or larger, the Creature grows to size Large as part of its transformation.

Creature of Fear:

  • Walking speed increases by 10 feet
  • Opportunity attacks against these Creatures are rolled at disadvantage.
  • These Creatures have immunity to the Frightened condition, as the Revelation spell erases their apprehensions. Additionally, they gain 5 temporary hit points at the beginning of each of their turns.
  • Feathers of a pale color not dissimilar to bleached bone sprout from every inch of this Creatures skin, obscuring their facial features. They shed them constantly and regrow them just as fast, often leaving trails of floating feathers as they race to confront their fears. Despite their delicate appearance these feathers are, in actuality, hard as steel, granting the Creature resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piercing or slashing damage.
  • Creatures of Fear can communicate telepathically with any creature that they can see.
  • Creatures of Fear are immune to all effects and conditions which might reduce their walking speed by any amount, such as Difficult Terrain or a Hold Person spell.
  • A Creature of Fear is irresistibly compelled to confront the fear which motivated their transformation. For example, an entity who once concealed a fear of the dark out of the notion that they might be mocked will, as a Creature of Fear, bound headlong into pitch blackness and shout telepathically to all they meet about how strongly they once feared it.
  • Creatures of Fear are omnivorous.
  • Creatures of Fear typically gather into packs which all share the same fear that they are compelled to overcome, stampeding across the land in hordes which sometimes number in the thousands.

Creature of Pain:

  • Dexterity score increases by 2
  • Enormous dragonfly wings sprout from this Creatures’ lower back, granting it a flying speed of 60 feet.
  • As a Bonus Action, the Creature can Dash away from any entity they can see, provided this movement doesn’t bring them closer to another entity whom they perceive as hostile.
  • Tears of molten iron pour incessantly from the Creature’s eyes like twin rivers of fire. They cause the Creature no pain or bodily harm, but any entity who moves through the Creatures space on their turn must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against the Creature’s Charisma Score or take 6d10 fire damage.
  • The Creature, no longer seeing the use in hiding their pain, screams deafeningly in equal parts agonized suffering and cathartic exultation whenever they are harmed. As a reaction to taking damage, the Creature of Pain may cast Shatter at 3 level centred on themselves. Alternatively, provided there are at least 2 other Creatures of Pain within 20 feet of the one which takes this reaction, it may instead opt to cast Synaptic Static at 5 level centred on itself as their combined cacophony pierces minds. In either case, both the inciting and surrounding Creatures of Pain take no damage from this feature, which they can use twice per long rest.
  • Creatures of Pain are automatically frightened of any Creatures of Violence that they can see, and will go to desperate and animalistic measures to avoid their notice or, barring that, their aggression. All the same, they in turn will display panicked yet determined violence towards any entity whom their erratic minds perceive as wielding a weapon.
  • Creatures of Pain have the inhibitions and responsibilities which caused their pain removed from their minds by the Revelation, and they spend their days blissfully indulging in their freedom from past burdens even in the midst of such an apocalyptic hellscape as the Revelation spell is prone to produce.
  • Creatures of Pain subsist on a humble diet of vegetables and plant life, exhibiting a remarkable capacity to metabolize them.

Any Creature transformed in this way who is exposed to a spell or effect which erases curses can, provided the curse erasure is of adequate power level, repeat the saving throw, transforming back on a success. Any spellcaster attempting this spell on a plane which it has already been performed upon will become the sole target of its effects, automatically failing their saving throw.

* - (Four corpses slain within the last week who each exhibited one of the four secrets/desires whilst alive, laid down alongside material evidence of that secret/desire.)
