Creation

This spell creates undead servants. Choose up to 10 corpses within range, Medium targets count as two corpses, Large targets count as four corpses, Huge targets count as eight corpses. You can't animate any corpse larger than Huge. A corpse that was never flesh and blood to begin with (such as a construct, elemental, ooze, or plant) can’t be turned into an animated corpse.

As a bonus action, you can mentally command any animated corpse you made with this spell if the creature is within 500 feet of you (if you control multiple corpses, you can command any or all of them at the same time, issuing the same command to each one). You decide what action the corpse will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard a particular chamber or corridor. If you issue no commands, the corpse only defends itself against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the corpse continues to follow it until its task is complete.

Animated Corpse Statistics
Size HP AC Str Dex Attack
Tiny 20 18 4 18 +8 to hit, 1d4 + 4 damage
Small 25 16 6 14 +6 to hit, 1d8 + 2 damage
Medium 40 13 10 12 +5 to hit, 2d6 + 1 damage
Large 50 10 14 10 +6 to hit, 2d10 + 2 damage
Huge 80 10 18 6 +8 to hit, 2d12 + 4 damage

Your spell imbues the targets with a foul mimicry of life, raising them as undead creatures. An animated corpse is an undead creature with AC, hit points, attacks, Strength, and Dexterity determined by its size. Its Constitution is 10 and its Intelligence and Wisdom are 3, and its Charisma is 1. Its speed is 20 feet; if the corpse had some other method of movement when it was alive, such as a swimming or flying speed, it retains that method of movement though the speed is reduced to 20 feet, unless the original speed was slower. If the corpse lacks legs or other appendages, or if the corpse is securely attached to a larger object, such as to a chain bolted to a wall, its speed is 0 feet. An animated corpse has darkvision with a range of 60 feet and it is immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition. It understands any languages it spoke in life but it can't speak.

If you command a corpse to attack, it can make a single melee attack against a creature within 5 feet of it. It makes a slam attack with an attack bonus and bludgeoning damage determined by its size. The GM might rule that a specific corpse inflicts slashing or piercing damage based on its form.

The corpses are under your control for 24 hours. If the spell ends, or if you stop concentrating on the spell before it reaches its full duration, your control of the corpses ends, and they will then pursue and attack the nearest non-undead creatures to them to the best of their ability. To maintain control of these corpses for another 24 hours, you must cast this spell on the creatures before the current 24-hour period, (or your concentration) ends. Use of the spell in this way reasserts your control over up to 10 corpses within range that you have animated with this spell, rather than animating new ones (medium targets count as two corpses, Large targets count as four corpses, Huge targets count as eight corpses).

At Higher Levels. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you can animate two additional corpses for each slot level above 5th.

* - (a drop of blood, a piece of flesh, and a pinch of bone dust for each corpse)
