This spell targets the insect used as the spell's component.
This spell creates an undead servant. You take the living insect in your hand and crush it. Your spell imbues the target with a foul mimicry of life, raising it as a ghost. The target becomes an insect spirit (see "Insect Spirit" homebrew creature for this creature's game statistics). On each of your turns, you can use a bonus action to mentally command the creature you made with this spell if the creature is within 60 feet of you. You decide what action the creature will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as following a particular creature. If you issue no commands, the creature only defends itself against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the creature continues to follow it until its task is complete. The creature is under your control for 1 hour, after which it stops obeying any command you’ve given it and dispels into nothing.
The spell lasts longer when you reach higher levels: 4 hours at 5th level, 12 hours at 11th level, and 24 hours at 17th level.
