This spell can be cast by a wizard without access to 5th level spells. However, it requires the blood of a deceased wizard capable of casting 5th level spells. This blood is used in addition to the ghoul eyes in its casting. Upon completing the spell, the wizard loses access to their cantrips and spells until their next long rest, or a casting of Greater Restoration.
You mentally contact an ancient shadow entity. This communication can be inherently dangerous to the caster. When you cast this spell, make a DC 15 wisdom saving throw. On a failure, you take 6d6 psychic damage. The damage coalesces around the eye, damaging it and creating a permanent, perpetual tendril of shadow to protrude form the eye. This corruption can only be cured by a regenerate spell or a wish spell. Over time, this corruption seeps through the blood and turns the skin to a dark purple.
On a successful save, you initiate permanent telepathic connection with this entity, in addition to the following benefits:
- Access to Eldritch Blast
- +2 permanent boost to spellcasting modifier ability score
- +2 to the cap of the ability score that you to cast spell
