Drawing a circle with your hand, you evoke a 1-inch-diameter ball of warbling black energy into a point within range. The ball then thrashes out violently, exploding against all targets in a 40-foot-radius sphere. Each creature within the area must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 4d8 acid damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. On a failed save, the creature also falls prone. As a bonus action on your next turn, you can then choose four 10-foot cubes to ignite within that area. Each creature within a cube must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 8d8 fire damage, or half as much on a success. A creature in the area of more than one cube is affected only once.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the acid and fire damage each increase by 1d8 for each slot level above 5th.
