As the spell is cast, make a mental note of how much gold you're willing to sacrifice as part of its spell components.
You flip a coin into the air, and catch it as it melts into a mote of glimmering, golden light in your palm. The more gold you1 spend on this spell, the brighter the light gets, as your coin purse magically finds itself several orders of magnitude lighter than it once was.
Make a ranged spell attack against a target of your choosing as you hurl this bolt of energy at it. On a hit, the target takes 6d6 radiant damage, plus an additional point of damage per 5 gp consumed in the spell's casting, up to a maximum of 10 additional damage when cast at the second level.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 2nd, and the bonus damage cap increases by 10.
