Chain Static

An arc of lightning bolts towards a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d4 lightning damage. Then you choose for the lightning to arc out towards another creature within 30 ft of the first or back to the original creature. Make another ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit the target takes 1d4 lightning damage.

The improves as you reach higher levels: 1d8 per strike at 5th level, an extra strike at 11th level, and 1d12 per strike at 17th level.
