Upon casting this spell, you invoke the darkest energies of the underworld, shaping them into a colossal arrow of infernal fire. You designate a target within range, unleashing the arrow from your fingertips.
The target is struck with an arrow composed of pure hellfire, dealing 10d10 fire damage and 6d6 necrotic damage on a hit. If the target is a creature, it must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature suffers the full damage and is cursed with the Hellfire Mark, incurring 3d6 necrotic damage at the start of its turn for 1 minute. This Hellfire Mark glows visibly, shedding dim light for 15 feet. A marked creature can attempt a Constitution saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with a success removing the Hellfire Mark.
Should the creature succeed on the Dexterity saving throw, it takes half as much damage and is not afflicted by the Hellfire Mark.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 9th level, the fire damage increases to 12d10, and the necrotic damage increases to 8d6. Additionally, the range of the dim light emitted by the Hellfire Mark increases to 30 feet.
