You unleash a string of insults laced with subtle enchantments at a creature you can see within range. If the target can hear you (though it need not understand you), it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or take 1d6 psychic damage and have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
This spell's damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).
When you reach 7th level, the metaphysical horror of your words cannot be fully resisted. Creatures who succeed on the saving throw against your Vicious Mockery still take half damage and must substract 1d4 from the next attack they make before the end of their next turn. A creature that fails the save has disadvantage on all attack rolls they make until the end of their next turn instead.
