You hurl an undulating, multicolored bolt of chaotic energy at a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 + 1d6 damage. 

**Unpredictable Effect:** Upon impact, the chaos bolt explodes into a shower of colorful sparks, each spark carrying a different elemental effect such as fire, ice, lightning, or acid. The chaos bolt's trajectory and the type of elemental damage it deals are entirely random, making it impossible to predict or prepare for.

Choose one creature within range, and the bolt leaps to a different target within 30 feet of it. Make a new attack roll against the new target, and make a new damage roll, which could result in a different elemental effect. If there are no other targets within 30 feet of the original target, the bolt dissipates harmlessly
