Damage/Effect

You tap into the primal forces of nature, conjuring blood-infused vines and living roots to ensnare and restrain your enemies in a wild and vicious embrace.

As you cast this spell, you create twisting and writhing vines, entangled with pulsating living roots. These tendrils surge forth towards a creature you can see within range. The target must make a Strength saving throw. On a failure, the target is restrained by the bloodvine and root entanglement, taking 4d6 piercing damage and 2d6 necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns as the vines pierce deeply and the roots siphon away life force.

While restrained, the target can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turn, ending the effect early on a success. Additionally, the target or another creature within 5 feet can use its action to make a successful Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check against your spell save DC, freeing the restrained target.

If the restrained creature takes radiant or fire damage, the bloodvine and root entanglement withers away, ending the spell.

When you cast this spell using a 5th-level spell slot or higher, the initial piercing and necrotic damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 4th.
