You choose one creature you can see. That creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or be cursed by this spell. A target cursed by this spell cannot use reactions, has its speed halved and must make a Charisma saving throw at the start of its turn. If it fails this saving throw the target is teleported to the Ethereal Plane if it is not there already and returns to the original plane of existence at the end of its turn. If the space it would appear in is occupied it is shunted to the nearest unoccupied space instead and receives force damage equal to the number of feet it was shunted.
While on the Ethereal Plane, the creature can see and hear the plane it originated from, which is cast in shades of gray, and it can't see anything there more than 60 feet away. It can only affect and be affected by other creatures on the Ethereal Plane. Creatures that aren't there can't perceive it or interact with it, unless they have the ability to do so.
Any effect that can remove the curse on the creature, such as Remove Curse or Greater Restoration spells, can remove this curse ending the effect early. This curse cannot be ended by Dispel Magic. If the cursed creature succeeds on the saving throw three times in succession then the curse ends early. If the cursed creature fails the saving throw three times in succession then it stops making saving throws and remains in the Ethereal Plane for the rest of the duration and its speed is reduced to 0.
