Summoning

You entice a spirit to your side, at which point it takes on the form of a beast of your choice. The beast can have a challenge rating of 1/2 or lower at this spell's base level, and you must have adequate knowledge of the beast you attempt to summon.

Your companion acts independently of you, but it always obeys your commands; in combat it acts at the end of your turn. Unlike a wizard's familiar, your wild companion can attack and deal damage. Your companion uses your spell attack for its weapon attacks, and your spell save DC for any of its abilities that require a DC.

When your companion drops to 0 hit points, its body dissipates into harmless mist. You can resummon the same companion, or summon a completely different one when you recast the spell.

While your companion is within 100 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. Additionally, as an action while you are within half a mile of your companion, you can see through their eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any special senses it has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses.

You can't have more than one companion at a time. Casting this spell while you have a companion will allow you to change its form into that of any other beast within the appropriate challenge rating range.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the CR of the beast you can summon is equal to half (rounded up) the level of the spell slot. Additionally, the beast's hit points are increased by an amount equal to five times the level of the spell used beyond 1st level.
