Focusing on a newly dead corpse, you channel the magic of life and death to restore it to life. However, the magic you summon isn't exactly... traditional healing... undead are fine, right?

Choose a dead or dying creature at 0 hp within range. If the creature was dead for longer than a minute when you began casting the spell, the spell fails. Make a DC 12 Intelligence check. If the check fails, the spell ends, and the DC to try and use it again on the same creature increases by 2 for the next 24 hours. On a success, the creature is revived as a zombie for the duration of the spell, except it retains its alignment and memories, and it has total hit points equal to 1 plus your proficiency bonus plus your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1). If the creature was alive when you cast the spell, it retains all class and race features, but its type and ability scores still match those of the zombie stat block.

When the spell ends, the zombie loses all hit points granted by this spell, becoming a corpse again if it was dead, or unconscious and dying if it was alive and gained no other hit points during the spell's duration. In a addition, if the creature is still alive when the spell ends, it gains a level of exhaustion. Once this spell is successfully used on a creature, it cannot be used on that creature again for 24 hours (meaning a dead creature can never be revived twice).

If a creature dies while under the effect of this spell, they become a nonmagical corpse and cannot be revived by this spell again.

* - (Small bandages and healing ointment, with rot away when used in the spell.)
