You call upon the power of a minor demon, Azzallel, a 6 inch tall demon of wide renown for a cheeky grin, a helpful attitude, and a dubious sense of humour. Casting this spell results in summoning an fragment of Azzallel's consciousness to you for one minute. You may then beseech the demon for his help on a matter within his power. The following effects are possible, but your DM may consider he could grant other requests. You know in making this request of Azzallel that there will be a downside, or drawback, or misfortunate that will also occur.
While helpful, he is also intelligent and capricious and will not appreciate a person or party attempting to get around his rules and so may decline a request if he thinks it has been asked before, and may punish someone who becomes a vexatious caster, calling on him repeatedly or inanely. He will usually do this by way of spontaneous fireball centered on the caster.
Azzallel can grant the following effects, but is very unlikely to do so more than once to a person:
- Granting Wealth. Azzallel will grant you an amount of silver equal to 100d10+500 gold. Half of this will disappear after 1d4 days.
- Skill Enhancement: Azzallel will empower your abilities, increasing your proficiency bonus and one ability score of his choice is increased by +3 for 1d4 hours. When this ends you have a temporary -3 penalty to that ability score and disadvantage on all ability checks for 24 hours.
- Healing/Restoration: Azzallel will cure you and up to 5 other creatures of his choice by 50 hit points and cures them of all diseases and poisons. All healed creatures suffer 1d6 psychic damage at the start of their turn for 1 minute.
- Information seeking: Azzallel will provide you information about a person, object, or location. The information will be mostly correct unless he has no way of knowing about it in which case he will just make up information.
- Item Conjuration: Azzallel creates one non-magical item of your choice worth up to 1000 gold. The item is defective in some practical way, such as a suit of armour which is extremely stiff, or bow with string that sometimes falls off.
- Polymorph: Azzallel will polymorph one creature of your choice into a creature up to one size bigger or smaller of his choice. The DM will roll 1d8 and on a 1 the creature choice is not consistent with the intent of the caster (for example, transforming themselves into a turtle, or transforming a dire wolf into a T-rex). Azzallel will concentrate on this new form for 1 hour or until they are reduced to zero hit points.
Azzallel is not inherently mallevolent, but No matter the request, or how well or poorly it has been fulfilled, there is always a chance that a subsequent effect will occur. The DM either decides, this or rolls 1d10 to determine if there is an effect, and if so, what:
- 1: Demonic Attention: You are likely to encounter hostile fiends, or more hostile fiends, for 7 days.
- 2: Neutrality: A creature who was previously friendly towards you cools, and is now considers you neutrally.
- 3: Glitch: You can attune to 1 fewer item for 7 days. If you have maximum items attuned when this occurs the DM determines one which becomes unattuned immediately.
- 4: Nausea: Casting a spell causes you to feel nauseous, for 24 hours when you cast a spell you must make a constitution saving throw DC18 or fall prone until the start of your next turn.
- 5: Big head: When you next wake up from a long rest your head swells to twice its normal size for 24 hours, during which time attacks targeting you have advantage.
- 6: Vulnerability: The next time you take damage, you are vulnerable to that damage type for 24 hours.
- 7-10: No effect
