A wreath of black fire surrounds your hands. If you touch a weapon it is engulfed with this flame granting the weapon an additional 1d6 fire damage on hit. You may maintain the fire in your hands instead of imbueing a weapon and use it as a bonus to damage with your fists. The fire is cool to your touch, but will burn others if they come into contact with it. The fire goes out shortly after it hits a target or surface. You may only have one instance of this spell active at a time.
This spell becomes more powerful at higher levels. It's damage increases to 2d6 at 5th level, 3d6 at 11th and, 4d6 at 17th. At the 11th level you have the choice to give your armor or shield resistance to fire for the duration of the spell instead of applying the flame to a weapon and the duration is increased to 1 hour.
This spell is not common knowledge among spellcasters. To attain this spell you must find a tome containing the knowledge of this spell or be taught it by a powerful spellcaster or entity. To learn the spell from a tome there is no cost aside from at least 1d4 days of uninterrupted study. The tome can be found in ancient tombs, dungeons, or in the home or lair of a powerful spellcaster.

Posted Sep 5, 2019Based on Black/Holy Fire from other homebrew here. Original was way too strong IMO, especially because original was not a concentration spell. Specified black FIRE damage rather than the necrotic/radiant stuff from original.
