Animate Monster

This spell creates an undead monster servant. Choose a corpse of a large or Smaller non undead creature that has a CR of your level or lower within range. To cast the spell, you must forgo a long rest as you cast this spell on the corpse. Your spell imbues the target with a foul mimicry of life, raising it as an undead creature. The corpse regards you as its master and will follow any command you give it

On each of your turns, you can use a bonus action to mentally command the creature with this spell, if the creature is within 60 feet of you. You decide what action the creature will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard a particular chamber or corridor. If you issue no commands, the creature only defends itself against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the creature continues to follow it until its task is complete, or until the duration is up.

The creature is under your control for 24 hours, after which it is reduced to a mush and cannot be animated again.

At Higher Levels. If you are blessed by a myconid sovereign, you treat the CR of what you can animate as if you're 2 levels more. If you cast this spell at 7th level, the monster lasts for your spellcasting modifier number of days, at 9th, the monster lasts for your spellcasting modifier number of months.
