With a gesture of serenity and a word of peace, you attempt to quell the aggressive spirit of a hostile humanoid within rage. Choose one creature in range that is currently hostile towards you or your allies, but that you are not in combat with. As part of casting this spell, you make a Persuasion check against an appropriate DC set by the DM. You have a +5 bonus to your Persuasion check, which increases to +10 if the target is wielding a weapon.

On a successful check: The target becomes indifferent about creatures of your choice that it is hostile towards. This indifference ends if the target is attacked or harmed by a spell or if it witnesses any of its friends being harmed. Additionally, you have advantage on checks to interact socially with the target.

On a failed check: If the creature initiates combat within the next minute, a retributive effect activates. You and your allies gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with weapons against the target for the duration. Additionally, if a weapon attack reduces the creature to 20 hit points of fewer, the creature is immediately reduced to 0 hit points and dies.
