You point at an object or creature you can see. As long as you are on the same plane as the chosen target, you can know what direction and what distance the target is from you.
If you target is a creature that is aware of the spell being cast or an object that is being worn or carried, the creature or carrier may make an Wisdom Saving throw against your spell save DC in order to resist the effect, otherwise the effect lasts for the duration, or until dispelled.

If the target goes into a diffrent plane, the spell ends.

At higher levels:

At 4th level the duration becomes 1 week, At 5th level the duration becomes until dispelled.
