Cantrip: Whispering Shade
School: Necromancy
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V, S
Duration: 10 minutes
Description: As you cast this cantrip, a grotesque, phallic-shaped shadow entity emerges from the depths of your soul, wrapping around your body like a sinister shroud. This entity grants you the eerie ability to communicate with the dead, but at a price. The shadow feels cold and heavy, pressing against your skin and whispering dark secrets into your mind.
Effect:
- You can attempt to communicate with the spirits of the dead within a 30-foot radius.
- Roll a D9. On a result of 5 or higher, the entity successfully channels the voices of the dead, allowing you to ask them up to three questions. The answers you receive are cryptic and often in the form of riddles or fragmented sentences.
- On a result of 4 or lower, the shadow entity exerts partial control over your body, causing you to act erratically and suffer from unsettling visions for the next hour. During this time, you have disadvantage on Wisdom and Charisma checks.
Flavor Text: As the shadow engulfs you, your eyes turn pitch black, and an aura of cold dread fills the air. The voices of the dead whisper through your lips, their words chilling and otherworldly. The entity's presence is a constant reminder of the dark power you wield and the price you pay for it.
