You reach out to touch a creature, tethering its shadow essence to you.
At the end of each of the tethered target’s turns, you can force it to make a Constitution saving throw. If the target succeeds on three of these saving throws, the tether ends. If the target fails three of these saving throws, the tether ends, and you absorb the target's shadow. If the tether remains until the spell’s duration expires, you also absorb the target’s shadow.
If the target fails a saving throw it takes 1d6 necrotic damage. If the target succeeds on a saving throw by 5 or more, you take 1d6 necrotic damage.
This spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).
The tether breaks if you are more than 120 feet away from the target.
Somehow the calculation for the saving throw is off. Unfortunately currently dndbeyond refuses to let me update the cantrip after publishing it. I'll give it another try later.
