For the context of this spell:
- an amount of metal less than 3ft^2 in volume is a tiny amount.
- 3ft^2 or more is a small amount.
- 6ft^2 or more is a medium amount.
- 9ft^2 or more is a large amount.
- 12ft^2 and greater is a huge amount.
You put your hands together as if holding an invisible ball, generating an electromagnetic field. On cast, and later as an action, you may attract all conductive metals in a 30ft radius. This electromagnetic force has an effective strength of 26(+8). If the object is worn or carried by a creature, you must make an ability check with the force's strength contested by that creature’s Strength check. If you succeed, you pull the object away from that creature.
If a creature is wearing metal armor, make a check with the Force's Strength contested by the Strength (Athletics) check of the target. If you succeed, the force pulls the creature towards you up to 5 feet plus a number of feet equal to five times your spellcasting ability modifier. This cannot pull a creature closer than 5ft away from the caster.
This spell then levitates up to a Medium amount of conductive metal 5ft in front of the caster, in a shape of the caster's choosing. When you cast the spell and as a bonus action on your subsequent turns, you can move the metal up to 60 feet and then cause one of the following effects with it.
Electromagnetic Strike. The metal strikes one creature or object within 5 feet of it. Make a melee spell attack for the metal using your game statistics. On a hit, the target takes 4d8 force damage, or 2d8 with a small or tiny amount of metal.
Force. The metal surrounds and attempts to move a creature or object in a direction you choose. If it is a creature, make a check with the force's Strength contested by the Strength (Athletics) check of the target. If you succeed, the force pushes the target up to 5 feet plus a number of feet equal to five times your spellcasting ability modifier. If the target is made of metal or wearing metal armor, this action can be done with no metal. Having only less metal than the creature's size class causes the contest to be performed at a disadvantage for the caster.
Capture. The metal attempts to restrain(Grapple) a Huge or smaller creature within 5 feet of it. You use the force's Strength score to resolve the grapple, and it is at disadvantage with an amount of metal lower than the creature's size. While the metal is restraining the target, you can use a bonus action to have the metal crush it. When you do so, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to 2d6 + your spellcasting ability modifier. This can be performed without any metal if the target is is made of or wearing metal armor.
Metal Shield. The Metal interposes itself between you and a creature you choose until you give the Metal a different command. The Metal moves to stay between you and the target, providing you with cover* against the target. The target can't move through the Metal's space if its Strength score is less than or equal to the force's Strength score. If its Strength score is higher than the force's Strength score, the target can move toward you through the Metal's space, but that space is difficult terrain for the target.
*a tiny amount of metal grants no cover, small grants 1/4, medium grants 1/2, large grants 3/4, and huge grants total cover.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher you may manipulate a large amount of metal, and casting it at 7th level or higher allows you to manipulate a huge amount, the damage from the Electromagnetic Strike option increases by 2d8 and the damage from the capture increases by 2d6 for each slot level above 5th.
* - (a rod of iron and a copper wire, wrapped tightly around the rod 100 times.)
