You coat yourself in a fluid sheath of acid that does not harm you. You can breathe normally and cast spells while the acid shroud is present. Any creature striking you with a melee attack deals normal damage, but at the same time the attacker takes 1d4 points of acid damage per caster level (maximum 30 points). You also gain resistance to acid damage while the spell persists.
If you are in a grapple, other creatures in the grapple takes acid damage once per round at the beginning of their turn.
In addition, you can step into acid large enough to fully contain your body, melding yourself and all the equipment you carry with the acid for the duration. Using your movement, you step into the acid at a point you can touch. Nothing of your presence remains visible or otherwise detectable by non-magical senses.
While merged with the acid, you can see what occurs outside it, and any Wisdom (Perception) checks you make to hear sounds outside it are made with disadvantage. You remain aware of the passage of time and can cast spells on yourself while merged in the acid. You can use your movement to leave the acid where you entered it, which ends the spell. You otherwise can't move.
