This small, clockwork creature is crafted from the material of the caster's choice and is powered by a tiny arcane core.
The companion can take form of a mechanical bird, spider, or other small creature. It acts as a familiar, following the artificer's commands and assisting them in various tasks. It is independent of the caster, rolling its own initiative and acts on its own turn. While within 100 feet of its caster, the automaton can communicate telepathically.
If the spellcasters casts a spell with a range of touch, they can use the automaton companion to deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell itself. The automaton must be within 100 feet of the caster and must use its reaction to deliver the spell when cast. If the spell requires an attack roll, the caster uses their attack modifier for the roll.
When the automaton drops to 0 hit points, it falls apart into the base materials it was made of. These materials can be used to re-cast the spell and bring the automaton back, either in the same or different form.
The Automaton Companion has an AC of 15 with 20 hit points and can make a single attack (refer to stat block for use). Additionally, once per long rest, the artificer can use the automaton to cast Arcane Lock or Alarm without requiring components.
You can have up to two automaton companions at a time, but will need separate arcane cores and materials for each.
