A willing creature you touch shape-shifts, along with everything it’s wearing and carrying, into a misty cloud for the duration. The spell ends on the target if it drops to 0 Hit Points or if it takes a Magic action to end the spell on itself.
While in this form, the target’s only method of movement is a Fly Speed of 10 feet, and it can hover. The target can enter and occupy the space of another creature. The target has Resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing damage; it has Immunity to the Prone condition; and it has Advantage on Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution saving throws. The target can pass through narrow openings, but it treats liquids as though they were solid surfaces.
The target can’t talk or manipulate objects, and any objects it was carrying or holding can’t be dropped, used, or otherwise interacted with. Finally, the target can’t attack or cast spells.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. You can target one additional creature for each spell slot level above 3.

Posted Dec 18, 2024Earthbind would stop someone in Gaseous Form from moving, but that's all. And the gaseous person would have advantage on the save vs. Earthbind.

Posted Apr 2, 2025You'd think a Gaseous Form would be immune to being Grappled? If you can traverse through narrow openings, surly it could slip through the fingers of a Barbarian that doesn't respect personal space, right?

Posted Apr 4, 2025You'd think, yeah, but I guess technically no. They would at least have advantage on the save to avoid being Grappled (because it's either Strength or Dexterity, and being gaseous gives you advantage on both).

Posted Aug 11, 2025poorly written and developed spell
*you can still be attacked and grappled but you cannot make attacks yourself?
you can slip through spaces but can be grappled?
*there's no mention of your mass/density changing except for the fly/walk on water thing, of description as to whether your size changes?
you still need to breathe? once again no mention of being free from basic breathing etc
how do you interact with spells like gust of wind etc.
Up your game developers, this is slop.

Posted Aug 11, 2025This spell should have been 2nd level tops. It's ok for scouting but there are lots of better options for that.

Posted Mar 29, 2026Can I use reactions while in gaseous form? Specifically, can my Circle of Spores Druid use the Halo of Spores reaction to deal some damage (or even 2dx with Symbiotic Entity boost)?
Gaseous form says "Finally, the target can’t attack or cast spells."
Halo of Spores: "Action Type: 1 Reaction" ..
So Halo of Spores seems to be an Action that deals damage, but is neither an attack, spell cast nor doing physical manipulation to an object. I understand this more like mentally controlling another creature (hence Symbiotic Entity, which implies two creatures are involved), just as controlling a zombie.
So, can I fly around in Gaseous Form while using Halo of Spores, Stones Endurance (i am a Goliath), Fungal Infestation? If not so, why?

Posted Mar 30, 2026Yes. The spell explicitly lists the things you can't do while under its effect: attack, cast a spell, speak, or manipulate objects. The Reaction granted by Halo of Spores is none of those things, so you can do it.
Fungal Infestation and Stone's Endurance likewise are not any of the things the spell says you can't do, so you can do them.
