This spell can’t reduce a target’s Hit Point maximum below 1.
You're telling me that the MaxHP damage is now just permanent?
Nah, fixing your max HP back to normal was added to the text of Long Rests to cut down on every single max HP reduction mentioning that Long Rests fix it.
It's unfortunate they didn't update it so that it could be upcast, even for a measly +1d6 per spell level.
Now the hit point maximum reduction can't be removed by the 2nd-Level spell lesser restoration.
Yep, since they basically removed 'disease' as a concept in the new stuff. Lay on hands no longer cures disease it's just 'use 5 points to remove poisoned condition', an aboleth's mucus cloud is now a curse not a disease, etc
