You hurl three fiery rays. You can hurl them at one target within range or at several. Make a ranged spell attack for each ray. On a hit, the target takes 2d6 Fire damage.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. You create one additional ray for each spell slot level above 2.
yay, first comment. This is a fun spell
Get Hex with Fey Touched, add a d6 to each ray. Outstanding. Even better if you are a Sorcerer with Innate Sorcerery up.
why can't my artificer take this 2024 edition?
Because this spell is not on the Artificer spell list.
It is though. They get it at 3rd level or something. So seems they forgot to add the artificer to it.
It is not. The full Artificer spell list can be found here.
Possibly what you're thinking of is that the Artificer subclass Artillerist has this spell as one of its subclass-specific "always prepared" spells. These are added to your character sheet automatically at the appropriate level, so they won't appear in the list of spells you can add if they're not normally Artificer spells (which, again, this one is not). However, since this is a level 2 spell, it won't be available until your Artificer is level 5, which is when Artificers gain access to level 2 spell slots.
Wish for more damage @ level 2 :(
Combine with conjure minor elements it’s insane
If i remember correctly scorching ray is on the artillerist spell list, the reason you can't take the 2024 version is because you most likely took the old version not the one that is being developed, talk to your dm about this and he might allow you to use that spell instead.
each ray do 2d6 damage?
Correct. Each ray is a separate attack roll and a separate 2d6 damage roll.
