Each creature of your choice that you can see within range must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or have the Charmed condition until the spell ends.
For the duration, you can take a Bonus Action to designate a direction that is horizontal to you. Each Charmed target must use as much of its movement as possible to move in that direction on its next turn, taking the safest route. After moving in this way, a target repeats the save, ending the spell on itself on a success.
It seems that they removed the clause about targets not going towards somewhere obviously deadly.
Yes, though it does say they will take "the safest route". So, they'll take a non-deadly route if they can, but if the only way to move in that direction is to move through some hazard that could kill them, they now have to do it.
Another important change is that the spell now applies the Charmed, which the old one did not. This means that the targets now can't attack or otherwise harm the caster of this spell. This makes it a lot more useful against people with ranged attacks than the old version.
