You pull wisps of shadow material from the Shadowfell to create an object within range. It is either an object of vegetable matter (soft goods, rope, wood, and the like) or mineral matter (stone, crystal, metal, and the like). The object must be no larger than a 5-foot Cube, and the object must be of a form and material that you have seen.
The spell’s duration depends on the object’s material, as shown in the Materials table. If the object is composed of multiple materials, use the shortest duration. Using any object created by this spell as another spell’s Material component causes the other spell to fail.
| Material | Duration |
|---|---|
| Vegetable matter | 24 hours |
| Stone or crystal | 12 hours |
| Precious metals | 1 hour |
| Gems | 10 minutes |
| Adamantine or mithral | 1 minute |
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The Cube increases by 5 feet for each spell slot level above 5.

Posted Sep 5, 2024Fabricate, we hardly knew you. Now we're left with a sickly pint-sized temporary Creation.

Posted Sep 18, 2024This spell is brutal with an Illusionist lol. The party can attempt to sneak up to a target and if the Illusionist has at least 1 minute, they could make an Adamantine Cage of variable size from 90ft away or drop a 5ft cube of granite stone on an enemy.

Posted Jan 29, 2025Doubt it. It's up to the DM, though.
In my opinion, it looks too powerful. With the same logic you can use cantrip "Shape Water" to finish off any bleeding creature.

Posted Feb 12, 2025Using this spell and Nystul's Magic Aura you can create an expensive object, like a work of art, a fine piece of furniture or a suit of armor, and make it appear real, even to Detect Magic. You could then sell it. I of course recommend you don a disguise when doing so, or make sure you leave town immediately after, as the object will disappear within an hour or a day,

Posted Sep 21, 2025Well, I'm not sure you're aware, but I'm pleased to tell you that Fabricate still exists. It's a 4th level Wizard spell, if you're looking for it.

Posted Dec 19, 2025Aside from a level 14 Creation Bard, this might be the best shot to get very rare and valuable spell components on demand.
It also will is nice in combination with Circle Magic. Every created object will last longer depending on the ammount of secondary casters. Even with one secondary caster and one additional 1st level Spellslot, all created Gems last for 70 Minutes.
Missing diamonds worth 25k GP? Just create them and use True Resurrection. The Spell has no GP limit on how expensive the created object can be!
Restcast Heroes Feast... every day. No problem with this spell. I think it is highly underrated. Especially since Circle Magic is a thing.
At least one player in the group should be able to use that spell.

Posted Dec 24, 2025Dang it. So it's just a completely useless Spell.
It's not even good to trick a merchant to buy some valuable Gems. Wasting a 5th level Spellslot if you can just rob the merchant...
Thanks for the Info. Haven't read the description to the end.

Posted Jul 27, 2026Actually create food and water works better as you can summon the food or water in containers, meaning you can summon Giant osmium spikes full of water and they just stay there additionally you could just summon a ton of platinum and make money.

Posted Jul 28, 2026If you create a Plate Armor (regular metal), how long does it last?
Could it be created on top of someone already?
Also this spell becomes really interesting if circle casted: like.. couldn't it be circle casted to create a mithral plate armor that lasts 8 hours?
