You touch a stone object of Medium size or smaller or a section of stone no more than 5 feet in any dimension and form it into any shape you like. For example, you could shape a large rock into a weapon, statue, or coffer, or you could make a small passage through a wall that is 5 feet thick. You could also shape a stone door or its frame to seal the door shut. The object you create can have up to two hinges and a latch, but finer mechanical detail isn’t possible.

Posted May 13, 2025Casting a spell as a ritual means that it doesn't use up a spell slot, but it takes ten minutes longer to cast than it normally does.
Generally this can only be done with spells that have the "Ritual" tag, which on D&D Beyond is represented by a little book icon with an R in it. This spell doesn't have it, but Detect Magic, for example, does.

Posted Nov 3, 2025This spell is both insane for how it can invalidate barriers to entry or create them, while at the same time, so hyper specific to stone, and limited to 5 feet, it will be last on most people's minds when picking a 4th level spell.

Posted Apr 14, 2026Some crazy interactions between this spell and Flesh to Stone. If you can convince your DM to let you, you can turn someone to stone, and reshape them -- changing guy to gal, changing Dwarf to Elf, adding wings, etc. -- then revert them from stone with Greater Restoration. The old flesh to stone spell even states that if broken the creature "suffers from similar deformities if it reverts to its original state". I think that a dwarf would agree that being turned into an elf would be a deformity.
