Teleportation
You teleport to a location within range. You arrive at exactly the spot desired. It can be a place you can see, one you can visualize, or one you can describe by stating distance and direction, such as “200 feet straight downward” or “300 feet upward to the northwest at a 45-degree angle.”
You can also teleport one willing creature. The creature must be within 5 feet of you when you teleport, and it teleports to a space within 5 feet of your destination space.
If you, the other creature, or both would arrive in a space occupied by a creature or completely filled by one or more objects, you and any creature traveling with you each take 4d6 Force damage, and the teleportation fails.

Posted Sep 10, 2025If someone is Grappling you use Dimension Door then be like "do you want to continue to hold onto me or come with me?"
They have to be willing to come with you so they have to let go if they don't want to come with you. I would say good plan :D

Posted Jan 20, 2026What does an upcast of this spell do? Does it add one or two characters per level?

Posted Jan 26, 2026Nothing.
If a spell doesn't have a "Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot" section in its description, then it doesn't have any upcasting benefits and behaves the same regardless of what level of spell slot is used to cast it.

Posted Apr 23, 2026If I have this spell, and a device that can cast Arcane Gate, can I use them both in the same action?
Can I cast the first Gate inside a castle, then Dimension Door to 500ft outside the castle (since I don't need to see, but only visualize the destination), then cast the second Gate outside the castle where I can see. Then my party can escape through the Gate outside the castle.
Or if not, can I have someone else cast the first Gate, then Dimension Door them with me outside, then they cast the second Gate outside?

Posted Apr 27, 2026You can't cast two spells that each have a casting time of 1 action using the same action. You need to use two separate actions to do that.
Arcane Gate creates both its portals at the same time. There is no "first gate" and "second gate" in a temporal sense; there's no way to do something else in between those two events because they happen simultaneously.
If the castle has a window (or any other way to just see outside) then it's not really an issue.
