You make yourself—including your clothing, armor, weapons, and other belongings on your person—look different until the spell ends. You can seem 1 foot shorter or taller and can appear heavier or lighter. You must adopt a form that has the same basic arrangement of limbs as you have. Otherwise, the extent of the illusion is up to you.
The changes wrought by this spell fail to hold up to physical inspection. For example, if you use this spell to add a hat to your outfit, objects pass through the hat, and anyone who touches it would feel nothing.
To discern that you are disguised, a creature must take the Study action to inspect your appearance and succeed on an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC.

Posted Oct 11, 2025What is often overlooked with this spell is it doesn't change your voice (and mimicking a voice takes the Actor feat or a class feature like the Mastermind).
NPC's who are familiar with someone may become suspicious of you if you don't sound like the character you are disguised as. Creatures can become hostile to you without being able to discern that you are disguised. Just a few things to keep in mind for DM's who encounter this spell a lot.

Posted Dec 14, 2025As wagnarokkr said. But if you are looking for something that allows you to change yourself multiple times, you would want to take the 2nd level spell -- alter self. That one is concentration though so keep that in mind.

Given this spell can be cast at will, it can be used each turn to change into something else without using a spell slot, correct?

Based on that, could someone use this spell to make themselves look like a (humanoid-shaped) shrubbery, or like someone in the D&D equivalent of a ghillie suit? Would someone be able to use this spell to blend in with/disguise themselves as a part of nature?
