You summon a fey creature of challenge rating 6 or lower or a fey spirit that takes the form of a beast (including the beast's stat block and description) of challenge rating 6 or lower. (You choose the type of fey or beast within any parameters set by the DM.) It appears in an unoccupied space in which it can fit within range. The summoned creature disappears when it drops to 0 hit points, when you choose (as a bonus action) to dismiss it, or when the spell ends.
The summoned creature is hostile to all other creatures, including you and your companions. It is controlled by the DM and acts immediately after your turn, usually attacking the creatures closest to it.
If you are a Circle of the Shepherd Druid: The summoned creature is friendly to you and your companions; it shares your turn and can act on the turn you summoned it; it obeys any verbal commands that you issue to it (no action required by you); and, if you have not issued any commands, it will defend itself from hostile creatures or other dangers but otherwise take no actions.
To the extent that the summoned creature has 'spellcasting' or 'innate spellcasting' abilities, it can only cast spells up to 6th level.
If your concentration is broken, the spell does not end. Instead, the summoned creature makes every vengeful effort, at the DM's discretion, to attack and/or disrupt the activities of you and your companions. The summoned creature can't be dismissed by you, and it disappears 1 hour after you summoned it or when it is slain.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the challenge rating of the fey or beast you can choose increases by 1 for each slot level above 6th.
