You summon a hungry swarm of vermin. You choose the type of swarm, which is any creature who's name contains the word Swarm and is of challenge rating 1/2 or lower, such as a swarm of insects or a swarm of rats or a swarm of ravens. The swarm appears in an unoccupied space you can see within range, and the swarm disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when a minute passes. When you cast the spell, you can designate creatures that your swarms won't attack.
Roll initiative for your swarms, which have their own turns. Your swarms spend their turns attacking the nearest non-swarm to the best of their ability. Whenever one of your swarms kills a creature, you immediately summon a new swarm of the same type that appears in the space of the dead creature. This new swarm has the same initiative as the swarm who killed the creature they came from, and immediately takes a turn.
At the beginning of a swarm's turn, if there are no valid creatures for any of your swarms to attack, the spell ends, and all your swarms are free to attack any creatures they wish, including the creatures you designated.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you summon an additional swarm when you cast this spell for each slot level above 1st.
