Weaving dark magic and malice, you bestow a dreadful curse upon a creature who has drawn your ire. As part of the casting of this spell, you must describe a deed or action the targeted creature must perform in order to break the curse. The difficulty of this task is up to the caster of the spell. When the curse takes effect, the targeted creature generally understands the nature of the action they must take, but not any specific requirements laid out by you. For example, "You must climb to the summit of Mt. Hotenow" would be understood by the target as, "You must climb a mountain spewing fire." Once the target performs the needed deed or action, the curse ends. Casting remove curse only works if it is cast upon the object used in the casting of this curse. The curse may otherwise only be broken upon death or upon the target's demonstration of pure, selfless love.
Until the curse ends, the target suffers one of the following effects of your choice:
- The target's base ability scores are rearranged in whatever manner you see fit.
- The target's natural sex or species is changed to another of your choice.
- The target is afflicted with a Dark Gift as described in Van Ricthen's Guide to Ravenloft, or any other longterm madness of your choice.
- The target is transformed as though by the polymorph.
- The target is pursued by a fiend of CR 21 or greater. The fiend sends its servants to relentlessly pursue the target until death.
- The target begins to either age in reverse or to age at twice the normal rate. For every 10% of age lost or gained in this way, the target's base ability scores decrease by 1.
- The target begins to gain or lose weight at the rate of 1lb every day. For every 10% of weight lost in this way, the target suffers a permanent level of exhaustion. For every 20% of weight gained in this way, the target gains a permanent level of exhaustion.
Casting this ritual is physically and mentally exhausting. When the spell is cast, you must make 3 constitution saving throws with a spell save DC equal to 10 + your spellcasting ability modifier. You suffer a level of exhaustion for each failure.
* - (an effigy of the target containing an object touched by them.)
