A hail of stones falls from the sky in a 15-foot radius within range, permanently turning the area into difficult terrain. Creatures within the area take 10d10 bludgeoning damage and are completely buried in loose stone if size Large or smaller. A successful Dexterity saving throw reduces the damage by half and prevents burial.
A creature that is buried is prone and restrained and begins to suffocate. It can use its action to roll a Strength (Athletics) check against the spell’s DC. The first success ends the suffocation. The third success frees the creature. Any check that succeeds by 10 or more immediately frees the creature. Another creature can use its action to attempt its own Strength (Athletics) check to assist one trapped creature if it knows where to dig.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The radius increases to 30 feet if you use a 9th-level spell slot.
