You brandish the melee weapon used in the spell’s casting and make a melee attack with it against one creature within the weapon's reach. For this attack, you can choose to use your spell casting ability modifier for the attack and damage rolls instead of Strength or Dexterity. Wreathing your weapon in frigid tundra winds on a hit, the target suffers 2d8 slashing damage in addition to the attack's normal effects.

Regardless of whether you hit or miss Each creature within a 10ft cone of you in the direction of the original target must make a Constitution Saving throw, on a failed save a creature takes 2d8 cold damage. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage.

At higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, both the initial damage and the save damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 3rd.
