You conjure a massive, spectral mouth that attempts to consume a creature within range. The target must make a Constitution saving throw, with disadvantage if it is incapacitated (such as being paralyzed, charmed, grappled, stunned, or restrained). On a failed save, it takes 4d12 + 20 necrotic damage. If this damage reduces the creature to 0 hit points, it and everything it is wearing or carrying are devoured by you, increasing your current and maximum hit points by 5. Additionally, you do not need nutrition to survive for the next 2 days.

The bonus hit points you can gain from this effect are limited by the creature's Challenge Rating (CR), as shown in the table below. When you have maximized the bonus from a particular CR, feasting on a creature of that CR may still count as devouring a creature of a lower CR for the purposes of gaining this benefit.

Additionally, you do not need to eat again for the next 2 days after using this spell. A creature devoured in this way can only be revived by a True Resurrection or Wish spell.

Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 1d12 for each spell slot level above 6.
