You inflict a wound upon yourself to cast this spell. You take 1d4 + proficiency bonus in damage to your hp, and reduce your max hp by the same amount. This reduction to your max hit points lasts for the duration of the spell. Upon drawing blood from an open wound, a swirling of fine mist of blood emerges from your body which immediately comes alight in thin wispy flame, which encircle and wreathe your body for the duration, shedding bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet.
While active, the flames provide you with a fiery shield. The fiery shield grants you resistance to slashing or piercing damage. In addition, as an action. you can cause the fire to flare up, causing a surge of fiery damage to all creatures within 5ft of you, dealing 2d6 Fire damage. Along with this effect, whenever a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, the shield erupts with flame. The attacker takes 2d6 fire damage.
