School of Soul Magic. Casting this spell requires expending a number of Soul Shards equal to the level of the spell. Any character without Soul Shards who attempts to cast this spell immediately drops to 0 Hit Points after casting it and begins making Death Saving Throws. Their Hit Points can only be increased once they have stabilized and can only be stabilized by succeeding on three Death Saving Throws. If they die while in this state, they cannot be revived by any means short of a Wish spell.

You conjure a lash of burning soul energy and make a ranged spell attack against a creature within 30 feet. On a hit, the target takes 4d6 Fire damage and 4d6 Necrotic damage. As a Bonus Action on your later turns, you can repeat the attack against a creature within 30 feet.

Each time you attack with the lash, you take Necrotic damage equal to half the Necrotic damage dealt by the lash as the soulfire eats away at your own spirit. You automatically succeed on Concentration saves made as a result of damage dealt to you by this spell.

Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The Necrotic damage increase to 5d6 with a level 6–7 spell slot and 6d6 with a level 8+ spell slot.

This spell is intended for use with the Soulbreaker Wizard Homebrew Subclass.
