You concentrate negative energy into a dark, spectral orb which weighs down on the shoulders of a Medium or smaller creature you can see within range, potentially crushing it unless it can sustain the orb's immense weight. The target must make a Strength saving throw. A Small or smaller creature does so with disadvantage. A target can choose to automatically fail this saving throw.
On a successful save, the target upholds the orb, preventing itself from being crushed. While upholding the orb, the target's speed is halved, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and Dexterity saving throws, and attack rolls against it have advantage. A target upholding the orb must repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns. If the success exceeds the DC by 5 or more, the spell ends.
On a failed save, or if the target is knocked prone or incapacitated while upholding the orb, the target is crushed, suffering 3d10 bludgeoning damage and being knocked prone. The spell then ends.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, you can target a creature up to one size category larger for each slot level above 2nd, and the size category of creatures that have disadvantage on the saving throw increases by one for each slot level above 2nd. Additionally, the damage increases by 1d10 for each slot level above 2nd.
