School of Soul Magic. Casting this spell requires expending a number of Soul Shards equal to the level of the spell. Any character without Soul Shards who attempts to cast this spell immediately drops to 0 Hit Points after casting it and begins making Death Saving Throws. Their Hit Points can only be increased once they have stabilized and can only be stabilized by succeeding on three Death Saving Throws. If they die while in this state, they cannot be revived by any means short of a Wish spell.

You touch a corpse or other remains that have died within the last hour. The creature's soul is anchored to the body and cannot be consumed or transition to another plane. Until the effect is dispelled, the creature cannot be resurrected or become Undead and the corpse does not decay. You are aware of any attempts to manipulate the soul and may opt to end the spell to allow the effect.

The spell also effectively extends the time limit on raising the target from the dead as days spent under the influence of this spell don’t count against the time limit of spells such as Raise Dead.

This spell is intended for use with the Soulbreaker Wizard Homebrew Subclass.
