Bear Witness

You summon a sophisticated bear adorned in fine noble attire, complete with a monocle and a leather-bound ledger. Known simply as The Witness, this bear observes and records the events around him with absolute accuracy and dignity. He takes no actions beyond observing and writing unless commanded to recount past events, as detailed below.

When summoned, The Witness immediately begins recording notable events and conversations within a 30-foot radius. These notes are highly precise and can be used as documentation of what transpired. The records remain in the book he carries, which disappears with him at the spell's end but can be summoned again later with another casting.

If cast using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you may request The Witness to recount a historical event from his archives. Roll a d20.

• 10 or Lower: The Witness shakes his head solemnly, indicating that he lacks sufficient information on the topic.
• Above 10: The Witness recounts detailed insight into the chosen historical event. The DM provides an accurate but possibly limited or cryptic account, depending on the nature of the event.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, The Witness can recall more distant or obscure events in history, potentially yielding deeper insights into legendary or ancient occurrences.

Note: The Witness cannot take any combat actions and will not directly interfere with events beyond recording or recounting. He can communicate in Common and one other language of your choice.
