When you cast Veilrend, you tear through the fabric of the planes, creating a 60-foot-radius field of anti-illusion magic and planar disruption centered on yourself. Within this field, all illusions are dispelled and creatures under the effects of illusion magic or shape-changing spells must revert to their true forms.
For the spell’s duration, creatures within the radius can see through all magical deception and invisibility. Malcanthet’s illusions, charm effects, and shape-shifting abilities are forcefully suppressed if she is within range, revealing her true form and weakening her defenses.
While Veilrend is active, creatures within the radius have disadvantage on all saving throws against the spell’s caster, as their reality is stripped bare.
Heavy Cost:
When the spell ends, you suffer from planar backlash. The strain of forcing reality back into place deals damage equal to half your total hit points (rounded down), which cannot be reduced or resisted. Additionally, you are unable to regain hit points by any means for the next 24 hours, as your connection to the weave of magic is temporarily frayed.
If you die within 24 hours of casting Veilrend, your soul is claimed by the Astral Plane, and revival requires a True Resurrection or Wish spell.
