Upon casting Veilshatter, you tear open the very fabric of reality, creating a powerful rift that disrupts all illusion, charm, and enchantment magic within a 120-foot radius centered on yourself. The rift acts as an anti-magic field for these effects, causing any illusions, disguises, or mind-control spells to end immediately within its radius. Additionally, creatures with innate shape-shifting abilities are forced into their true forms, stripped of magical protections, and suffer disadvantage on all saving throws for the duration.
While within the area extraplanar entities are vulnerable to attacks as though they were on their home planes, making them fully susceptible to banishment and similar effects. Their resistances and immunities are halved, and they cannot use any abilities related to planar travel or teleportation.
Heavy Cost:
When the spell ends, the caster suffers catastrophic effects as reality violently recoils.
- Life Energy Drain: You immediately drop to 1 hit point, and your maximum hit points are reduced by half. This reduction lasts for seven days and can only be restored by a Greater Restoration spell cast once per day for each day of the duration.
- Soul Splintering: If you die within 24 hours of casting this spell, your soul is shattered, scattering into fragments across the planes. You can only be revived by a Wish spell, and even then, there is a 50% chance that each casting fails, leaving you forever lost.
- Reality Tears: For the next 24 hours, whenever you cast a spell of 5th level or lower, there is a 25% chance that the spell will fail and cause a tear in reality, releasing a random planar creature into your vicinity.
