You extend your hand and trace a sigil of warding in the air. Until the end of your next turn, you have resistance against bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage dealt by weapon (including natural weapons) attacks. As an action, you can cast this on a willing creature up to 30ft away.

Author’s Notes: Wizards can be (kind of) Glass Canons. At first glance Blade Ward appears to offset this somewhat, but at the cost of your valuable action, it simply wasn’t worth it. As a wizard, I also found I hardly ever did anything with my bonus action leaving me feeling a little useless, or at least slow compared with the Warlocks, Rouges, and Monks of my party.  This solves both these issues. It still only works for 1 round and but takes a bonus action to cast, and how many spells use bonus action? A few, but not many. I gave it range but only if you want to still use your valuable action. I also got rid of the verbal component.
