This spell creates large, deep cracks along the target's body, tearing their skin asunder.
Unless the creature has been damaged previously the spell has no effect.
The target must make a Constitution Saving Throw. On a failure, the target takes 1d8 necrotic damage and must subtract 1d6 from the attack roll for the next 1d4 (rolled by the caster) attacks. On a success, the target takes half the damage and does not suffer the hemorrhage effect.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.
When cast at 5th level or higher you can choose to roll 2d4 and take the highest of the two when a target suffers the hemorrhage effect.
